Several events leveraging data to tackle climate change and sustainable development will be held during COP21<\/a>. Etalab has put together an agenda to channel its engagement in support of this global effort. Here are the milestones of Etalab\u2019s participation:<\/p>\n

December 4<\/strong><\/p>\n

– 8.30am \u2013 7.30pm (AFD)<\/strong>: Climate Change Resilience in the Age of Data<\/a><\/strong>
\nThe Agence Fran\u00e7aise de D\u00e9veloppement (AFD), the think-tank Data-Pop Alliance, MIT Media Lab, and Overseas Development Institute (ODI) will bring together researchers and practitioners to explore the opportunities, challenges, and requirements for leveraging new data sources and analytical approaches to empower at-risk communities.<\/p>\n

December 5<\/strong><\/p>\n

– 15:30 \u2013 17:00 (Le Bourget)<\/strong>: Climate Change Challenge (C3) Awards<\/a><\/strong>
\nThe Climate Change Challenge (C3) has mobilized during one year the open data, datascience, and startup communities to address climate change issues with data. The organizing committee (SGMAP, MEDDE, M\u00e9t\u00e9o-France, La M\u00eal\u00e9e, IGN, Etalab, CNES, MHNH, EDF, IRSTEA, ERDF) will introduce the C3 methodology and related datasets<\/a>, followed by a pitch of the six challenge finalists<\/a>. The Mexican open data team, which has organized a similar challenge over the past months, will introduce its approach.<\/p>\n

December 6<\/strong><\/p>\n

– 17:00 \u2013 19:00 (Grand Palais)<\/strong>: Innovation for Addressing Climate Change in Paris<\/strong><\/a>
\nThis conference aims at bringing together innovations related to energy transition and Paris\u2019 economic potential. In particular, the ParIS Green<\/a> platform, as developed by the Agence Parisienne du Climat and Parics&Co, promotes a sustainable economic development.<\/p>\n

December 7<\/strong><\/p>\n

– 9:30 \u2013 12:30 (Superpublic<\/a>)<\/strong>: Open Data Roundtable on Climate Change<\/strong>
\nThe Government of Mexico, the Government of France (Etalab), and the Center for Open Data Enterprise will hold a workshop to develop a global approach to using open data to address climate change. The results will feed into the elaboration of a Climate Package, following the model of the recently launched Anticorruption Package<\/a>, attached to the International Open Data Charter<\/a> that France has adopted in October<\/a>.<\/p>\n

– 13:45 \u2013 15:00 (Le Bourget): Data for Climate Action<\/a> \u2013 UN Global Compact<\/a><\/strong>
\nThe \u201cData for Climate Action\u201d session will highlight opportunities presented by real-time big data to inform decision-makers about how populations are affected by – and influenced – climate change. In particular, the session will highlight how private sector companies can engage in \u201cdata philanthropy\u201d to make data available for climate action.<\/p>\n

Etalab expects to learn a lot from these different actors, approaches, and methodologies. Lessons drawn from the experience will be shared on this blog in the following weeks.<\/p>\n

Lors de la COP21<\/a>, plusieurs \u00e9v\u00e8nements feront levier sur la data au service du changement climatique et du d\u00e9veloppement durable. Etalab s’associe \u00e0 cet agenda qui traduit son engagement en soutien de cet effort international. Voici les moments forts de la participation d\u2019Etalab:<\/p>\n

Vendredi 4 d\u00e9cembre<\/strong><\/p>\n

– 8.30am \u2013 7.30pm (AFD): La r\u00e9silience face au changement climatique \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge de la data<\/a><\/strong>
\nL\u2019Agence Fran\u00e7aise de D\u00e9veloppement (AFD), le centre d\u2019\u00e9tudes Data-Pop Alliance, MIT Media Lab, et le Overseas Development Institute (ODI), rassemblent des chercheurs et op\u00e9rationnels autour d\u2019un d\u00e9fi : utiliser la donn\u00e9e pour renforcer la capacit\u00e9 des communaut\u00e9s vuln\u00e9rables \u00e0 lutter et s\u2019adapter au changement climatique.<\/p>\n

Samedi 5 d\u00e9cembre<\/strong><\/p>\n

– 15:30 \u2013 17:00 (Le Bourget): Climate Change Challenge \u2013 C\u00e9r\u00e9monie de remise des prix<\/a><\/strong>
\nLe C3 est un challenge mobilisant citoyens, acteurs publics et priv\u00e9s, experts, \u00e9tudiants et start-ups pour inventer des solutions concr\u00e8tes au d\u00e9fi du changement climatique. Le comit\u00e9 organisateur (SGMAP, MEDDE, M\u00e9t\u00e9o-France, La M\u00eal\u00e9e, IGN, Etalab, CNES, MHNH, EDF, IRSTEA, ERDF) pr\u00e9sentera la m\u00e9thodologie et les donn\u00e9es associ\u00e9es <\/a>au C3. Puis, les 6 laur\u00e9ats<\/a> pitcheront leurs projets. \u00c0 la suite, l\u2019\u00e9quipe en charge de la politique d\u2019open data au Mexique, qui a organis\u00e9 un challenge similaire pendant les derniers mois, pr\u00e9sentera sa propre d\u00e9marche.<\/p>\n

December 6<\/strong><\/p>\n

– 17:00 \u2013 19:00 (Grand Palais): L\u2019innovation au service du climat \u00e0 Paris<\/a><\/strong>
\nConf\u00e9rence dont l\u2019enjeu est de faire converger la nouvelle donne de la transition \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique et le potentiel \u00e9conomique de Paris. Notamment, la plateforme ParIS Green<\/a>, d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e par l\u2019Agence Parisienne du Climat et Paris&Co, sera pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e comme un acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateur de la green \u00e9conomie.<\/p>\n

December 7<\/strong><\/p>\n

– 9:30 \u2013 12:30 (Superpublic<\/a>): Table ronde sur l\u2019open data et le changement climatique<\/strong>
\nLe gouvernement du Mexique, le gouvernement de la France (Etalab) et le Center for Open Data Enterprise, organisent un atelier pour d\u00e9velopper une approche globale de l\u2019utilisation de l\u2019open data au service du changement climatique. Les r\u00e9sultats de cette matin\u00e9e de travail vont alimenter l\u2019\u00e9laboration d\u2019un Climate Package<\/em>, suivant le mod\u00e8le de l\u2019Anticorruption Package<\/a><\/em> r\u00e9cemment publi\u00e9 aupr\u00e8s de l\u2019International Open Data Charter<\/a><\/em>, adopt\u00e9e par la France en Octobre 2015<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\nLa conf\u00e9rence mise \u00e0 mettre en \u00e9vidence les opportunit\u00e9s pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es par le big data en temps r\u00e9el pour informer les preneurs de d\u00e9cisions sur l\u2019impact du changement climatique sur les populations. Notamment, il sera question de comment les entreprises du secteur priv\u00e9 peuvent, \u00e0 travers la \u00ab data-philantropy<\/em> \u00bb, mettre des donn\u00e9es \u00e0 disposition pour l\u2019action climatique.<\/p>\n
